13.6 What To Do in an Emergency

In case of an emergency, such as a fire, earthquake, or accident, your first priority should be your safety and the safety of the students in your care. You should familiarize yourself with the safety procedures provided by the client facility. In the event of an emergency causing serious threat or injuries,

immediately DIAL 9-1-1 to alert police and rescue workers of the situation.

If you hear a fire alarm or in the case of an emergency that requires evacuation, please proceed quickly and calmly to the emergency exits, escorting all students with you. Never leave students unattended or without your direct supervision. Remember that every second may count. Do not return to the workplace to retrieve personal belongings or work-related items.
