3.4 Employment of Relatives; Personal Relationships

Usually, Play-Well will not refuse to hire someone simply because they are related to one of our current employees, or in a committed personal relationship with that employee. If you know of someone who might be perfect to fill an open position in Play-Well, please don't hesitate to refer this person to us.

There are times, however, when employing relatives or someone in a committed personal relationship with an employee is inappropriate and has the potential to affect the morale of other employees and to create conflicts of interest for the people involved. Therefore, we will not hire persons who are related to or in a committed personal relationship with an employee, where one person would have direct supervision of the other.

If two employees become related while working for Play-Well, or enter into a committed personal relationship together, and if one of them is in a position of direct supervision of the other, only one of the employees will be allowed to keep their current position. The other employee will have to either apply for a transfer to another position that does not involve that direct supervision or resign from Play-Well TEKnologies. It is the responsibility of both employees to inform their respective manager(s) immediately if this situation arises.

Under this policy, the term "relatives" encompasses husbands, wives, live-in partners, same-sex partners, domestic partners, parents, children, siblings, in-laws, cousins, aunts, and uncles. This policy covers biological relationships, marriage relationships, and step-relationships.
