10.13 Jury Duty

If you are called for jury duty, you are entitled to take time off, as necessary, to fulfill your jury obligations. No employee will face discipline or retaliation for jury service. This is unpaid leave, unless state law requires otherwise.

You must immediately inform your supervisor when you receive a jury duty summons. If you are chosen to sit on a jury, you must inform your supervisor of how long the trial is expected to last. You must also check in with your supervisor periodically during your jury service, so Play-Well knows when to expect you back at work.

On any day when jury service ends before the end of the usual work day you must check in with your supervisor to find out whether you need to return to work for that day.

  • States we are in that require an employer to pay employees while serving jury duty: CO, CT, MA, NY. Please inquire with the office about how you are to be compensated.
  • CO - full-time employees will be paid $50/day, part-time employees will be paid their average over the last 3 months per day up to $50/day
  • CT - full-time employees get paid regular wages for first 5 days then $50/day after that, part-time employees are paid by the state
  • MA - full-time employees get paid regular wages for first 3 days, part-time employees will be paid their daily average over the last 3 months for 3 days
  • NY - all employees will be paid $40/day for the first 3 days
